May astrology
report from Maya White of
 |
Aries - (March 20
- April 19) It's time to look at new ways of earning money.
Old sources have run their course, but new and exciting transitions
are developing. Mars moves into Leo, a fire sign more compatible
with your sun sign, Aries. Here the warrior planet opens up your
5th house of creativity and play, inviting you to peruse that dream
of marketing your original project. You were SO ready for a change,
anyway. This season is about developing your skills and talents,
and fulfilling the promises of self determination. A pleasant
surprise comes on the 21st when you are recognized for good deeds
done long ago.
|
 |
Taurus - (April
20 - May 20) This is an amazing month for you, Taurus, but
some things must first transform. Issues around money and self
esteem are on fire, and you probably have come to view an old
friend in a new light. Keep wonder and beauty at the core of your
world, and leave decaying leaves to the world of salamanders.
Maintain diligence in your body-mind connection; dwelling on the
past right now has a detrimental affect on your physical strength.
The powerful New Moon of May 5th in Taurus signals a season of
major new beginnings- proceed accordingly. Be open to new
acquaintances for the Full Moon - look your best and expect a
wonder.
|
 |
Gemini - (May 21
- June 20) Monitor your tendency to see the cup as half
empty instead of half full in the first part of this month. Every
time your mind flips into 'grim analysis' mode, just take a deep
breath, and clear the screen. Instead, get organized and clean up
old projects. Maintain a positive frame of mind because friends are
in need of your good advice! You do need to maintain clarity,
because your ruling planet Mercury moves into retrograde motion on
the 26th. Initiating in Gemini, this one is sure to affect you;
tend to those nagging computer problems and/or legal issues by the
23rd.
|
 |
Cancer - (June 21
- July 21) At least you know where you stand now, Cancer.
Many questions have been answered; unresolved situations -
resolved. Issues lingering from as long ago as last November are
put to rest. And, yes, you did have some latent aggression which
impacted the situation - but it had to be worked out. The moon
enters your sign on May 8th, a day that Vedic astrology designates
as 'Akshaya Tritiya', one of the most auspicious days of the year.
Take heed, because a great benefactor has been patiently waiting
for you to adjust your attitude. Ask for guidance, and aim for
clarity; both are yours for the bidding.
|
 |
Leo - (July 22 -
August 22)Mars enters your sign on May 9th, and stays in Leo
until early July! The warrior planet of energy and forward motion
lends assistance in just the right time and way. What perfect
timing; just when you are in need of super hero stamina and
strength. The notion of forward motion is critical. You've been
working out old stuff for months, now. The Full Moon of May 19th at
29º Scorpio is the perfect time to bury that old thing. With
both Neptune and Mercury stationing into retrograde motion on the
26th, it's not exactly a fresh start, but it's your best shot at
creating a different point of view.
|
 |
Virgo - (August
23 - September 22) Saturn may not be lauded as a 'giver of
gifts', but it does bring on just and earned rewards. You've paid
your dues, and now it's time to - keep on working. Yes, there is
much to accomplish yet, but why not take advantage of the stellar
planetary line-up in earth signs. Jupiter in Capricorn, Saturn in
Virgo, and Venus in Taurus until the 24th makes this a season of
fertility and flowers. Furthermore, the New Moon in Taurus
accentuates your 9th house of travel, wisdom, and higher mind. Yes,
it's the perfect month for a trip, and you will be an honored guest
at that banquet.
|
 |
Libra -
(September 23 - October 21)
Libra - (September 23 - October 21) Given careful analysis, which
you can perform early in the month, this is an ideal time to
refinance a home or other outstanding loan. Best day for a legal
commitment is Friday the 16th; if not possible then, be sure to
sign before Mercury goes retrograde on the 26th. Other long
standing situations can also be successfully resolved now. The
jailhouse guard has been preoccupied with the cook lately, and now
is your chance to escape. You have been granted use of a big cosmic
broom this May, Libra; figure out what needs to be swept away, and
get busy.
|
 |
Scorpio -
(October 22 - November 21) The situation appears to be about
other people, Scorpio, but it's really about you! Like actors in a
cosmic script, they will entice, swoon, and make light of what is
really a serious situation. That which looks fine on the 18th will
be subject to a more realistic view on the 19th. Remember, spring
gives us two Full Moons in your sign - at the first and last
degrees of Scorpio! There are rewards, but also an accounting. This
is really a turning point, Scorpio. You are gaining in strength
like a Jedi knight, but choose your battles carefully. But, don't
expect a free lunch. Save your appetite for the banquet which
arrives in autumn.

 |
Sagittarius -
(November 22- December 20) Are you earning money, Sag? With
Jupiter traveling through your 2nd house of tangible goods, this is
the perfect season. It may be time to explore some new options,
though. Take advantage of the positive options which are presented
on the 21st. The Full Moon of May 19th culminates in your natal
12th house, a ghostly place of doubt and karma. This will bring up
some dear self examination; use this energy to program some
positive affirmations into your subconscious instead of indulging
in haunting fears. Creativity is heightened this month, Sag. Think
inventiveness, and get your best ideas while relaxing at the beach.
The best idea can even bring in some income. Review some of your
past dreams and missions, for there lay the fertile fields of your
future. There is a slight let down on the 8th, when someone you
relied on disappoints you. Move through the old stuff quickly, and
focus on the positive.
|
 |
Capricorn -
(December 21 - January 19) Freedom comes, although it may
take a moment to appreciate the feeling. A get-away weekend of
peace and quiet is in order at some point this month. You need time
alone to contemplate and generate a new vision before putting your
head down and getting back to work. Find the big picture and think
about long term goals; the details, really, will flow nicely if you
only stand out of the way. This Mercury retrograde period which
begins on the 26th is about untangling snarled messes of paper and
system malfunctions. Be patient. The moon is in your sign May 22 -
the 24th. Remember, Jupiter is traveling through Capricorn now;
this is your season of growth and expansion, as well as plain good
luck!

 |
Aquarius -
(January 20 - February 17) A good poker player keeps a calm
face, and a tight hand. This is a good strategy for April,
Aquarius. The important thing, however, is that you must be ready
to act upon a moment's notice. Someone important takes notice this
month, so, even though you are playing it "cool", you must be ready
for quick action. Overlook a careless comment made on the 7th -
don't waste your energy. Look your best on the 9th. Be prepared for
decision making on the 18th - plan on having all the facts in
advance, and you'll make the right move. You will be asked to take a
stand on some issue this month, Aquarius. Take it on, because the
result can bring healing to a long standing dysfunction. It's like
a bubble which you need to burst has now surfaced for your
attention; if you ignore it this time, it goes back into hiding,
but will come back later. (These types of 'bubbles' are usually
tougher on their 2nd and 3rd round, too.) And, it may seem as
though it is fixing something for somebody else, but, on a deeper
level, it's soothing a part of your own soul, and the admission
price ultimately buys your liberty. Take action before the 24th -
you have little to lose, and everything to gain.

on some issue this month, Aquarius. Take it on, because the result
can bring healing to a long standing dysfunction. It's like a

if you ignore it this time, it goes back into hiding, but will come

Cosmic Time
Beltane - May
1-5
The natural
world awakens. One of the four "cross-squarters" of the solar year,
Beltane marks the mid-point between the Spring Equinox and Summer
Solstice. We celebrate Beltane with community festivals of renewal,
joy and hope. Traditionally observed on May 1 and sometimes
referred to as May Day, Beltane is the pagan celebration of spring
and the flowering of life. The maypole represents the merging of
masculine and feminine, the god and goddess whose union creates
life. We dance the maypole and jump the Beltane fire in celebration
of the infinite blessings bestowed on our home, our family and our
world. Astronomically, Beltane arrives when the Sun reaches 15
degrees Taurus on May 5.
Venus in the Underworld - May 3-July
16
Our sister planet shines as the morning
star only a little while longer before making her way into the
western sky. If you rise early, you'll notice Venus gradually
becoming fainter as she catches up to the Sun, which keeps us from
seeing her from Earth. The period when Venus is "invisible" is her
descent into the underworld, a shamanic journey through death and
rebirth. She'll re-emerge in July as the evening star.
This passage is
the mid-point between a pair of transits of Venus in June 2004 and
June 2012, when the planet passes visibly across the face of the
Sun. This historic alignment coincides with the ending of the Mayan
calendar.
Saturn Direct - May 2
Saturn's been
moving westward among the stars in "retrograde" motion for several
months. Now he reverses and returns to normal or "regular" motion
(eastward among the stars).
When the Reality
Planet shifts back into direct motion, it's time to move forward.
Saturn's retrograde journey began December 19, so we've had more
than four months to reconfigure the structures of our lives to
better reflect our evolving consciousness. What has changed for you
since then? In Virgo, Saturn guides us to tend to the details of
life. Projects stalled since mid-December get the green light
now.
Taurus New Moon - May 5 - 8:18 AM EDT; 3:18 PM
GMT
The Sun and
Moon's union in Taurus happens this year on festive Cinco de Mayo,
and the heavens respond with a meteor display. At the New Moon we
plant seeds that will bloom and bear fruit at a future Full Moon.
In Taurus, we focus on the Earth, physical resources and values.
Venus, goddess of love and beauty, joins the festivities in her
home sign of Taurus, gracing us with abundance.
The Eta Aquarid
meteor shower is the first of two showers that occur each year as
the Earth passes through dust released by Halley's Comet. The dark
sky of the New Moon provides an ideal backdrop for viewing the
display. Best visibility is in the pre-dawn hours of May 4, 5 and 6
in the east-southeast sky. Visibility is much better in southern
latitudes, with 40 to 50 "shooting stars" per hour. The Eta
Aquarids are named after a star in the constellation Aquarius,
where the meteors appear to originate. The brotherly love of
Aquarius reigns with fire in the sky.
Jupiter Retrograde - May 9-September
7/8
A week after Father Saturn turns
direct, Brother Jupiter stations retrograde. He'll pass back
through the middle degrees of Capricorn for four months, guiding us
to go within to connect with the Inner Teacher. Jupiter affects us
personally and globally. Issues and opportunities that surfaced in
February, March and April are ripe for renegotiation now. Expansive
forces take a breather as energies are reversed. This is a time to
complete existing plans and projects rather than expand them or
launch new ones. On a personal level, this is an ideal time for
introspection and contemplation of the greater issues in life. What
is your purpose? What teachings and traditions are important to you
now? How do the outer expressions of your life reflect your inner
truth? What resources do you need to support your plans? Pay
attention to messages in dreams and meditation. Inner guidance will
be subtle. Jupiter also has to do with our relationships. Which
ones need to be reconsidered, released or
reworked?
Scorpio/Taurus Wesak Full Moon - May 19/20 - 7:11 PM
PDT May 19; 10:11 PM EDT May 19; 3:11 AM GMT May
20
On April 20, a
Full Moon occurs in the first degree of Scorpio. The second Wesak
Moon happens 29 days later, in the last degree of Scorpio. Life as
we know it could change radically between Point A and Point B. In
the relentlessly transformative sign of Scorpio, the Moon's rays
dig deep to illuminate what's been held in the subconscious, both
individually and collectively. With two Full Moons in Scorpio, this
can be a highly emotional time. In Scorpio, death and rebirth are
the vehicle of transformation. Tears cascade as we grieve the loss
of what has been and make way for the new.
In Tibetan
Buddhism, Wesak celebrates the birth, death and enlightenment of
the Buddha. Clearly, Tibet will continue to be in the world
spotlight as Buddhists and many others around the world celebrate
the lunar holy day. In the esoteric teachings rooted in Buddhist
and Vedic traditions, Wesak Festival is the second of the three
great spring lunar festivals, a focal point for humanity to receive
the cosmic energies of enlightenment.
Wesak Meditation
When planets and stars align, energetic
portals are created that allow for the transmisison of higher
dimensional frequencies to reach the Earth. At Wesak, the buddhic
energies of enlightenment are especially accessible to
humanity.
Wesak is
traditionally a time for planetary servers to gather in meditation,
creating a vessel to receive the powerful spiritual energies
directed to Earth through the gateway of Shambala. If you'd like to
participate, alone or in a group, just reserve this time for
ritual, prayer and meditation. Timing is best as the Moon waxes to
full this Saturday night, and again on May 19/20. The effects will
be magnified many times.
Imagine
connecting with the gathering of spiritual masters in a sacred
valley high in the Himalayas as the Wesak Full Moon rises to
illuminate the hearts and minds of all beings. Focus on receiving
the energies of enlightenment in service to the Divine Plan. Allow
the incoming cosmic frequencies to infuse your consciousness,
moving on the breath to fill all the spaces of your being, all the
cells of your body. Sink this energy lower and lower, deep into
Mother Earth. You are a cosmic vessel as you radiate this Divine
Love throughout all dimensions of time and space.

Thought for today:
If you want His answer
by Paramahansa Yogananda
Whether He replies or not,
Keep calling Him---
Ever calling in the chamber
Of continuous prayer.
Whether He comes or not,
Believe He is ever approaching
Nearer to you
With each command of your heart's love.
Whether He answers or not,
Keep entreating Him.
Even if He makes no reply
In the way you expect,
Ever know that in some subtle way
He will respond.
In the darkness of your deepest prayers,
Know that with you He is playing hide and seek.
And in the midst of the dance of life, disease, and death,
If you keep calling Him,
Undepressed by His seeming silence,
You will receive His answer.
